Out In The Park at Six Flags Great America
Returns in 2016 for Year 5!
A Private Night in the Park to Celebrate Diversity
Presented by MINI Cooper Chicago & Fireball
That Will Help Benefit TPAN’s Ride For Aids
Saturday, September 10th, 2016 from 7:30PM to 12AM
Singer, actor, director, choreographer and YouTuber TODRICK HALL performs live this for this year’s fifth annual Out In The Park Celebration of Diversity!
All night, attendees can follow the bass to the Hometown Square dance area where The DJ’s of SCARLET Bar Chicago/Honolulu, hostess Khloe and some dancers will keep the party jumping.
Out In The Park is an annual private diversity fundraising event featuring unlimited riding of ALL Six Flags Great America’s amazing THRILL rides (with much shorter than usual lines!) with a portion of all ticket sales each year help benefit various non-profits. “One of the best elements of this event is that it is closed to the general public and this year our event piggy-backs a daytime corporate buyout so our attendees will be entering an EMPTY PARK!” explains Michael Snell, co-owner of BestGayChicago.com. “The LGBTQ community, their family, friends and supporters can enjoy the park with little to short lines and without homophobic hassles from anyone. It’s like a Fall Gay Pride Celebration with even MORE amusement and entertainment!”
In an interview with ChicagoPride.com: “We are very excited that this private night for charity continues to grow every year and we have gifted over $35,000 to various groups,” said Derrick Sorles, Snell’s husband of 17 years and business partner, “We are more than thrilled that the amazing Todrick Hall has signed on to be with us this year. He is in the middle of his “Straight Outta Oz” tour and took a break to be with us and perform!”
“We are honored that some of our peers including GRAB Magazine, ChicagoPride.com and QUEST Magazine in Wisconsin also help us by donating advertising space for this event! It’s truly a community event where everyone comes together for the greater good!” says Derrick Sorles.

LOOK OUT! GAREK HAS ARRIVED!
After moving to New York City with big musical dreams, Wisconsin-born Garek scored an internship at a music production house writing and singing demos for the likes of Disney and Nickelodeon — fun, right?!
Well, not quite.
He tells QUEERTY – “I was tired of making music for the machine,” Garek explains. “So, instead of feeding the machine, I set out to starve it. For ‘Goddamn Dizzy Kids’, I used the formulas I was privy to as a ghostwriter (big, bouncy choruses, bright, catchy hooks and contemptible, chantey nonsense), but used it in a way that allowed me to spread my message. I refuse to settle for the sea of mediocrity that has become the standard for this generation’s music.” – read more at QUEERTY.
GAREK’s first single “Save The Queen” has already had tastemakers around the globe buzzing.
London’s EQ Music has hailed him as “a deity of Industrial-Electro mastery” while Australia’s DNA Magazine says, “He’s ready to rule the world!” MTV’s LOGO (NewNowNext) says, “for all [his] influences, there’s something distinctive about what Garek is doing.”
THE NEW VIDEO EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT is HERE!!
LOVE HIM! GAREK

Scott Walker’s Sons Say They Respect Their Dad’s Anti-LGBT Views, Don’t Try to Change His Mind…
With Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker expected to officially launch his presidential campaign on Monday, CNN’s Dana Bash traveled to the governor’s mansion in Madison to speak with Walker’s sons – 21 year old Matt and 19 year old Alex.
It was revealed last week that Matt and Alex are both supporters of marriage equality. Gov. Walker, however, is decidedly not. He called the Supreme Court’s ruling last month a “grave mistake” and has floated the idea of a constitutional amendment to allow states to continue banning same-sex marriage.
“We talked to him, like any family we have disagreements,” said Matt . “He just explained his position and that was it.”
“Matt and I aren’t necessarily changing his stances on any issues,” added Alex. “We respect his opinion on things.”
Walker is currently sitting in second place behind Jeb Bush in RealClearPolitics’ polling average.

JUDGES BLAST BANS ON GAY MARRIAGE IN INDIANA AND WISCONSIN!
Federal appeals judges bristled on Tuesday at arguments defending gay marriage bans in Indiana and Wisconsin, with one Republican appointee comparing them to now-defunct laws that once outlawed weddings between blacks and whites.
As the legal skirmish in the United States over same-sex marriage shifted to the three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, more than 200 people lined up hours before to ensure they got a seat at the much-anticipated hearing.
While judges often play devil’s advocate during oral arguments, the panel’s often-blistering questions for the defenders of the same-sex marriage bans could be a signal the laws may be in trouble — at least at this step in the legal process.
“It was tradition to not allow blacks and whites to marry — a tradition that got swept away,” the 75-year-old judge said. Prohibition of same sex marriage, Posner said, derives from “a tradition of hate … and savage discrimination” of homosexuals.

Out In The Park at Six Flags Great America
Returns in 2014 BIGGER Than EVER
Lady Bunny Takes On Goliath!
A Spectacular Night of Amusement and Entertainment
Presented by MINI Cooper Chicago
That Will Help Benefit AIDS Resource Center Wisconsin (ARCW)
Saturday, September 13th, 2014 from 7PM to 12AM
Attendees for this year’s third annual Out In The Park Celebration are in for a night of EPIC proportions. Those who dare will have a unique opportunity to experience GOLIATH with the shortest waiting times of the season! Setting not one, but THREE new world records, Six Flags Great America’s GOLIATH will be the World’s fastest wooden coaster complete with the tallest and steepest drop, plunging riders 180 feet nearly straight down (85 Degrees) at 72 miles per hour!
All night, attendees can follow the bass to the Hometown Square dance area where The DJ’s of SCARLET Bar Chicago and Hostess Trannika Rex are paired up with the legendary, larger-than-life, over-the-top, gorgeous NYC entertainer that is the one and only LADY BUNNY! Drag Diva Supreme, DJ, and Comedienne Extraordinaire Lady Bunny takes center stage with SCARLET Bar burning up the turntables with nothing but danceable, FUN music and Lady Bunny closes the evening with her trademark, OUTRAGEOUS, pop-culture-lyric-comedy parodies!
Out In The Park is an annual private LGBT Saturday night fundraising event featuring unlimited riding of ALL Six Flags Great America’s amazing THRILL rides with a portion of all ticket sales this year helping benefit AIDS Resource Center Wisconsin (ARCW). “One of the best elements of this event is that it is closed to the general public and this year our event piggy-backs a daytime corporate buyout so our attendees will be entering an EMPTY PARK!” explains Michael Snell, co-owner of BestGayChicago.com. “The LGBT community, their family, friends and supporters can enjoy the park with little to no lines and without homophobic hassles from anyone. It’s like a Fall Gay Pride Celebration with even MORE amusement and entertainment!”
In an interview with ChicagoPride.com: “We are very excited that this private night for charity continues to grow every year,” said Derrick Sorles, Snell’s husband of 15 years and business partner, “We are more than thrilled that Lady Bunny is flying in from New York to guest DJ and do her schtick and be a part of the festivities. Trannika Rex and the DJ’s of SCARLET Bar know how to have FUN and play music you want to dance to! Add GOLIATH to the mix of all this and it will truly be a night that’s ridiculously great!”
Sorles continued on to say “The last two Out In The Park Events allowed us as a community to raise almost $25 thousand for Chicago’s Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) and Chicago House. This year were changing it up and raising money for the ARCW because Out In The Park enjoys huge support and attendance from Wisconsin folks because of the park’s close proximity and we feel it’s only fair that Wisconsin charities share in the proceeds occasionally as well.”

“We thank the Six Flags organization and Best Gay Cities for this wonderful opportunity to benefit from their 2014 Out In The Park event. The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, the first Medicaid HIV medical home in the United States, serves 3,000 patients who are all confronting HIV/AIDS, a disease that is expensive, complex and still has no cure. We encourage every fan of adventure and adrenalin rides to come OUT on September 13, 2014 and have fun at Six Flags, because this fun will be converted into crucial funding for the ARCW Medical Center helping patients achieve longer, healthier lives with HIV.”
Dan Mueller, Chief Development Officer for AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin
The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin is home to the ARCW Medical Center – Wisconsin’s largest and fastest growing HIV health care system. Through its integrated medical, dental and mental health clinics along with its pharmacy and dedicated social services that include food pantries, a legal program, and social work case management, more than 3,300 HIV patients in Wisconsin gain the health care and social services they need for long-term survival with HIV disease from ARCW.
The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) Medical Center is the first community-based health care clinic in Wisconsin to gain official recognition by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its commitment to high quality medical care. The recognition specifies the ARCW Medical Center as a patient-centered medical home for its more than 1,200 HIV medical patients.
“NCQA recognition of the ARCW Medical Center is an affirmation of the unique and high quality integrated health and social services that we provide to our patients,” ARCW President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Gifford said. “Medical homes are quickly becoming the gold standard in health care to assure that patient needs are comprehensively addressed and that care is closely coordinated to help assure the best clinical outcomes.”
ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2014, The Annual private night, OUT IN THE PARK @ Six Flags will be helping to raise money for ARCW. A portion of all tickets sold, goes directly to ARCW! $39 Advance Tickets can be purchased HERE.
Sunday October 12, 2014 is the 25th Annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin with fashion icon TIM GUNN as Honorary Chair.
WELL, I was afraid to write about this place….because my best kept secret would be out of the bag! But it would be selfish of me not to share this gem WITH EVERYONE!
I have shopped at a LOT of vintage clothing stores from east coast to west coast, and LUV UNLIMITED is one THE BEST ever! (2649 S. Kinnickinnic in Milwaukee).
I Love them for their vintage finds but Luv Unlimited sells new, vintage & handmade clothing, accessories and jewelry for men and women.
They also offer new and vintage iron-ons which they professionally press on new American Apparel & Alternative Apparel shirts and sweatshirts. AND they offer hand-dipped and imported incense, records and gifts. ALL AT AFFORDABLE PRICES!
Sage Schwarm and Becky Heck are the owners. “We opened in the spring of 2004.” Sage says. “At that time there were no other buy, sell, trade stores in Milwaukee and it drove us crazy, so we figured we’d have to do it ourselves. Now there are several, although many have come and gone.”
The store is very meticulous. Everything is very organized, hung neatly, displayed neatly and the vintage finds are top notch quality at affordable prices. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the store, in every way.
“We are different than other businesses like ours in several ways.
1- We buy from the public by appointment only. Most other places you bring in your stuff, and they give you a number and tell you it could be an hour or two or three. Because we buy by appointment we are able to give the customer immediate attention. The average wait is 10 – 20 minutes. To make a selling appointment call 414-744-2540 during business hours. For selling rules check the web site at www.luvunlimited.com
2- We create original stuff. Becky is a seamstress and designs all kinds of clothes. She also sells her original paintings, jewelry, duct tape wallets, etc. All of her creations fall under her label HEX DESIGNS.
She concentrates heavily on recycled and upcycled materials in all of her creations. I do a lot of original silk-screened tees, totes, etc.
3- We sell records. We have a nice little section of new and used vinyl. We also sell on www.discogs.com. Our seller page is at http://www.discogs.com/seller/luvunlimited and we deliver worldwide.
–The record section is a good distraction for your partner who hates sitting around while you shop for clothes, and the rest of the store is a good distraction for your partner who hates to wait while you dig for records!
4- We also have incense, jewelry, accessories, and we have the occasional guest DJs spinning while you shop!“
Most of you young readers don’t even remember vinyl!
There were always record collectors who disdained the compact disc, arguing that an LP’s grooves yielded warmth and depth that the CD’s digital code could not match.
But the market largely ignored them. Record labels shuttered their LP pressing plants, except for a few that pressed mostly dance music, since vinyl remained the medium of choice for D. J.s.
As it turned out, that early resistance was not futile, thanks largely to an audience of record collectors, many born after CDs were introduced in the 1980s.
Today WAX is getting more and more popular with music aficionados! Placing the needle to a disc is like turning back time – to a sound that once was.
Luv Unlimited LOVES their vintage vinyl and every week show off their new finds on their Facebook page!
Every time I wear a piece of clothing from Luv Unlimited I get countless comments – because the pieces I like and choose, are very unique. The owners have a definite eye for style. They are very particular about what they carry – which is why this store is so special. The piece may be 40 years old, but chances are it is in mint condition.
FRIDAY – SATURDAY 11AM – 8PM
SUNDAY – MONDAY 11AM – 5PM
Sidenote: Sage is a musician as well – for several years he was in Codebreaker (www.codebreakermusic.com) and currently my project is called The Sounds of Time (https://www.facebook.com/SoundsOfTimeMKE ). Here’s a link to their latest video –

AN EVENING WITH ALISON ARNGRIM
WHAT: And you thought she was out spoken on that damn Little House on the Prairie? In 2010, Ms. Arngrim released her memoirs similarly titled, “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated,” through Harper Collins. The book became a record breaking literary success in hardcopy and paperback as well as Kindle sales. The New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best Seller was one of the top 10 selling “TV Related” books on Amazon.
WHEN: Friday July 11th (Curtain: 7:00pm)
WHERE: The Meyer Theatre – 117 South Washington Street, Greenbay, WI 54301
The Mark Twain House proudly offers patrons an amazing evening of entertainment. Fans worldwide remember her as the hateful Nellie Oleson, the acid-tongued hellcat for seven years on TV’s Little House on the Prairie. Alison has gone on to successes in many arenas, but Nellie has remained a centerpiece of her public acclaim. Alison says “Even now strangers sometimes shy away from me until they realize that I’m not going to hurt them.” At least, not when she’s offstage. In Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, audiences can expect the unexpected and more than a little Nellie Oleson-style wickedness on this hilarious ride through the twisted heartland of America.
Alison guest-starred on such television classics as The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, and lampooned her own status as “ex-child star” on the month-long parody, “Hollywood Survivor,” on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Her independent films include For the Love of May with RuPaul and The Last Place on Earth, co-starring Billy Dee Williams and Phyllis Diller. A talented stand-up comedian, Alison has created quite a name for herself on the professional comedy circuit, headlining at top comedy clubs and venues across the U.S. and Canada, as well as France.
After the passing of her “Little House” co-star Steve Tracy, who died of AIDS in 1986, Alison became a national AIDS Activist for organizations like APLA, providing AIDS education to doctors, nurses, prison inmates, service clubs, churches and schools. Alison stunned viewers of The Larry King Show in 2004 when she revealed her own history of childhood sexual abuse, becoming a advocate on legislature preventing child abuse by joining the advisory board of the National Association to Protect Children (PROTECT).
TICKETS: $20 (General) and $50 (VIP, includes meet/greet and copy of her book).
Reservations: Call Rush Box office at 800-895-0071 or Meyer Theatre Box office at 920-433-3343 or visit ticketstaronline.com

Last year, attendance was near 1200+ over the course of the nine hour festival including locals & many from 90+ miles away.
Fruit Loop 5k
On June 14th Fruit Fest will be hosting the Fourth Annual Fruit Loop, a 5K run/walk through the beautiful Marquette Neighborhood, starting and ending at the Fruit Fest event grounds. The proceeds from the run/walk are distributed to Community Shares of Wisconsin who gives them to LGBT organizations.

Dress as fruity as you want and come out to run or walk and have some fresh-squeezed summer fun for a good cause.
